27yrs ago, my wife and I were heading back to her parents home in Summerland after spending a wonderful day touring some wineries in the Mission, sampling some great wines and Champagne, and having a delicious lunch.
It was one of those amazing clear and sunny August days and as we were driving down Drought Hill just north of Peachland, I glanced over at Okanagan Lake and caught this 'postcard' scene of sailboats and water skiers enjoying the lake. I turned to Ida and said “Let's move”.
Since then, we have raised two wonderful children. The older is in her final year of UBCO. The younger is in his grad year at Summerland High School.
Ida is a pharmacist at Shoppers Drug Mart and has been a 'fixture' there since the store opened a couple of decades back.
My career has always been entrepreneurial with a focus to help my clients find opportunities and solutions to their needs. Ranging from Financial Planning and Investing, to creating custom lumber products for high end homes, to recommending and supplying specialty competition gear to help them reach the podium.
And reaching the podium in the various sports I have participated in, has been a life passion. A highlight was being a member of the Canadian F class team at the 2013 World Championships in Raton, NM.
The FTR team which I was part of, secured Canada's first International team medal with a Silver.
In 2006, we began a complete renovation and expansion of our future home. With the age and changes we wanted to make, it was decided to take the original home to the studs and work back both inside and out, to modernize and upgrade everything to suit the needs of our new family.
Unfortunately, we did this project during one of the tightest housing trade markets in the Okanagan. You sure learn a great deal about how a house is put together when you have to do a lot of the construction and interior finish yourself.
